A few albums I have been enjoying recently:
The Zombies – Odessey and Oracle (1967)
Despite being the best part of 50 years old, this is a fairly recent discovery. I went to see The Zombies a few months ago courtesy of a good friend of mine and found I knew far more songs than I thought. I did some background reading on the band and found that this album was the one that critics and musicians alike raved about.
SUMMARY: beautiful songs, superb playing and production. Perfect timeless pop songs.
Ben Folds Five – The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind
I have been a fan of Ben Folds since the original BFF album back in 1995. The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind is their first album though in 13 years, and they’re back in fine form. Bonus points go to Robert Sledge for his sensitive bass playing, and of course Darren Jessee (one of my favourite drummers of all time) for playing like, well, Darren Jessee!
